Traffic flows across the Van Buren bridge during rush hour on the evening of November, 10, 2010. It was a typical day this was near the end of my 5-6 assignments. I drove downtown and walked across the bridge to Linn County shooting as I went. Once I was back in Benton County I noticed this composition. It was fortunate that rush hour is at dusk this time of year. We do not have tripods as part of our issued gear, so I braced the camera against a sign post and shot lots and lots of photos at a slow shutter speed to blur the cars lights. After that I went on to finish up production and shoot the last assignments of the day. A pair of potential buyers examine the freezer cabinets at Richey's Market Thursday morning before the auction. Last October I was sent to make photos at Richey's Market where they were auctioning off the contents of the store. At first it felt like I was watching vultures picking at a carcas. As I wandered around the store I spotted a fellow looking at the freezer cabinets. He did not want his photo in the paper, so I waited for another buyer. After about fifteen minutes later a pair of buyers wandered down the aisle checking out the merchandise and I made this photo. Once the auction began I recognized several local businessman making purchases. That was when I realized ithis assignment was not documenting vultures picking over a carcas but a cool form of recycling. Richey's Market will live on as a small part of several local businesses. Travis Hise, left, and Heidi Eveland decorate the windows at SunWise located at the intersection of 14th street and Main street in Philomath Wednesday evening. For the first time in seven years the street lights also had holiday decorations. Earlier this month I was sent to Philomath to make some photos of the cities holiday decorations that had been found in a barn. My Plan was to go at dusk to get a nice sky in the background. After shooting from across Main street I moved to shoot down the sidewalk.
